The secret to the perfect gel polish application

Do you ever struggle with shrinking, uneven application or product not lasting?

The foundation of our gel polish application will determine the outcome of your gel polish application, think of it like building a house, if your foundations are not done properly, you will have issues with the house in the future. You want to have a solid platform for the remainder of the products to sit on.

Our Foundation Base Gel is the platform in many of our Gelish services but today we will focus on Gelish Soak Off Polish application. The way you apply Foundation Base Gel is very important and can impact many things. It is to be used sparingly and scrubbed into the nail plate in a backwards and forward motion to ensure adhesion in all of the nooks and crannies, capping the free edge each time.

The application is then cured for 5 SECONDS in a Gelish LED Light. You may be thinking, 5 seconds that isn't long enough, it won't last. Think of gel polish and the curing process of it going from a liquid to a solid, what does it look like when it is fully cured? It's smooth, right?! Gel polish will only adhere to a tacky or rough surface, if your Foundation application is smooth from overcuring the colour will not adhere well causing issues with lifting.

Once the Foundation Base Gel has been cured for 5 seconds, using a clean Gel Brush we perform a technique called dry brushing. Dry brushing will remove any excess product, providing you with a rough and tacky surface for the gel polish to adhere to.
